[Men's Cross Country] Cavs Compete at MSSU Stampede

Comments

JOPLIN, MO.- The Cavaliers men's and women's cross country teams competed at the MSSU Stampede in Joplin, Mo. on Saturday morning.

Luis Lopez (JR/McAllen, Texas) led the Cavalier men by recording a new career best in the 8 kilometer race. Lopez ran the race in 29:04.88, which was 44 seconds faster than he's ever ran the 8K race. Sager McCrary (FR/Conyers, GA) participated in his very first 8K with the Cavs, and he ran a strong time of 31:03.59. Michael White (JR/Morgantown, WV) also ran for SGU, and finished the race with a time of 33:58.89.

Coach Chris Creal said, "For most of our men, this is the farthest they have ever raced, so getting through their first one is a learning experience. We have been dealing with some minor injuries so we weren't able to score as a team today, but we took this meet for what it was worth and look to continue to move forward with our training. There is still plenty of season left and time to keep getting better."
