[Men's Cross Country] Lopez Leads Cavs at Hutchinson Twilight RacePublished by
HUTCHINSON, Kan.- On Fridat night, the Cavaliers competed at the Hutchinson Twilight race to open up their season. The Hutchinson Twilight is a very unique race, because it is a night race, ran under the lights. Luis Lopez (JR/McAllen, Texas) was the Cavs first runner to cross the finish line of the four mile race, in just 23:33.6. Kris Parker (SO/Kingfisher, Okla.) finished only 30 seconds behind Lopez, and Sager McCrary (FR/Conyers, GA) finished in 24:40.2. Fernando Gonzalez (FR/Oklahoma City, Okla) finished the race in 25:28.7, and Michael White (JR/Morgantown, WV) finished in 26:28.6. When asked about his teams performance, St. Gregory's head coach, Chris Creal said, "We are a very young team on the men's side so this race was to test the new distance for the newcomers, as well as for the returners to improve themselves on this course. Luis and Kris did a great job taking leadership and pushing the rest of the team to the best possible finish we could with the elements we were given." SGU will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 16, when they race at the MSSU Stampede in Joplin, MO. Read the full article at: www.sgucavaliers.com
